NEWS AS OF March 17, 2014

Registration for the Pike Open is now up on the website.

We have added 'Hope for Gabe' as one of the Open's philanthropies.

Our Founder's Day banquet is coming soon! This year, we've decided to offer a choice of where to have the banquet. We are required by our bylaws to have the Banquet and Annual Meeting on March 1.

The first option of venue is The Club. We can have the Vulcan Room reserved for the event. There will be a cash bar, and the dinner will cost $40 per person which will need to be paid in advance.

The second option is to have the banquet again at Macaroni Grill at the Summit, and set up as we did last year, where everyone is responsible for their own bill.

Please send an email to with your preference, or call Geoff Parker at 205.991.9734 (this number will roll over to a support line if busy, and just leave a message with your name and contact info).

Please let us know by FRIDAY JANUARY 17 so we can finalize our plans. We will send another email out with the results after that date.

If you have still not paid dues, please do so. Your dues will help maintain our websites, our philanthropic efforts, and sponsorships to Pike University. The annual fee is $25, and you can register online. If you need any further information or have some questions, please feel free to email Geoff Parker at or Jim Methvin at

In the bonds,

Geoff Parker BMAA President

NEWS AS OF December 22, 2013

The Birmingham Metro Alumni Association of Pi Kappa Alpha would like to wish a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all Pikes and their families. 2013 was a good year for our organization. We were able to raise over $3500 for prostate cancer screenings provided by the Urology Health Foundation.

We had a sucessful first Networking meeting, and we were able to raise funds from the silent auction that was held that night as well. We also helped undergraduate chapters (active one at the University of Alabama, and silent ones at Samford and Montevallo) set up websites and register domain names for continuity.

We are looking for any reunion pictures, old pictures, or composites as well. We would like to add them to our website's photo gallery. Contact Jim Methvin at if you have any to share.

We have set up the 2014 Calendar. The main items on it are the Founder's Day function, the 2014 Pike Open, and two more networking meetings. The calendar for 2014 will be put up on our website before January 1.

We are looking to build upon the 2013 successes. To do that, we need your help. If you have not joined our organization, please do so. Your dues will help maintain our websites, our philanthropic efforts, and sponsorships to Pike University. The annual fee is $25, and you can register online. If you need any further information or have some questions, please feel free to email Geoff Parker at or Jim Methvin at

NEWS (AS OF APRIL 13,2012)

- Brothers, We regret to inform you that due to unforeseen circumstances, the 2012 PIKE OPEN has been canceled. The annual golf event and the Urology Health Foundation will continue to be the primary focus of our philanthropy efforts and we plan to assist them in their other fundraisers which are already scheduled. All individuals and sponsors who have submitted their fees for the PIKE OPEN will receive a full refund immediately. Please contact a BMAA officer if you have any questions or need assistance. Thanks to all those involved for your support. We were unable to hold the 2012 PIKE OPEN Charity Golf Tournament this year as we did not have the minimum number of participants (80 - as required by Old Overtonís policy) to justify opening the facility to a private party only. This is completely reasonable for a venue of this caliber to have high standards for private events and we simply did not have the level of involvement that was required to meet their criteria. We will be better prepared and ensure that we have the necessary resources and participation next year when we host the 2013 PIKE OPEN.

- We need a few more volunteers to serve on the Alumni Advisory Board for Samford (Alpha Pi). Let Rick Mullen know if you are interested.

- We are setting up a BMAA Business Directory. Please submit your business cards.
